Lost and abandoned america

Itmann was opened in 1918 by the mighty pocohontas fuel co. It was named after the president of the company, Issac T Mann. The itman mine was closed in 1928, then reopened 20 years later, during the 1950's and 1960's it was the most productive mine in west virginia. In 1980s the Islan creek coal co was mining in pocohontas number 3 and employing around 500 miners. The mines are closed now. The building is on the national register of historic places
