Bemberg factory 1920s the factory made rayon synthetic type of silk. It was mainly used for parachutes at the time the factory opened in 1926. By 1928 the factory employed 2500 locals. In 1929 a violent strike broke out resulting in several deaths, atleast 10 people.In 1932 a fire and huge explosion killed atleast 100 people, when reconstrucrion began construcrion workers who worked late in the evening would hear phatom screams. Closed in the late 70s, building was condemened in the late 1980's since then the factory has became a place for homeless people to stay. In 1998 a homeless woman locals called martha fell feom upper story window to her death. It is now said that people will see her falling from the top floor.
